"Indeed, nothing is to be preferred to the Work of God." RB 43.3
Mount Michael Benedictine High School offers a wide array of liturgical opportunities. Both Eucharistic and non-Eucharistic liturgies assist us as a community in celebrating and recognizing God's presence in our lives. Through the Eucharist, we are nourished by God's infinite mercy and compassion. We are therefore invited to become more loving and just in our daily life; to model our lives after Christ.
Eucharistic Celebration:
Prayer
Each morning at Mount Michael Benedictine, school starts with the Morning Offering Prayer and pledge of allegiance led by a student over the public address system.
Lectio Divina
In the monastic tradition, one privileged place of encounter with God is Lectio Divina, the personal daily practice of reading and prayer with the guidance of biblical texts. The continuous study and meditation of Scriptures discloses before our eyes the plan of God for our lives and permits one to follow Christ with a more committed effort. All students will learn how to do Lectio Divina in their Theology classes.
Special opportunities for praying the rosary together and Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction are held periodically though out the year.
Sacrament of Reconciliation Opportunities
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is highly valued at Mount Michael Benedictine. Students are welcome and encouraged to stop by the Campus Ministry Office or contact Fr. Gregorio Congote to set up an appointment. Special Reconciliation services are also held during Advent and Lent for all students.
Spiritual Direction:
Father Gregorio is available to the students for any spiritual concerns. Please contact Fr. Gregorio Congote and make an appointment.
Night Prayer:
Night prayer concludes the student's day on the residential floors led by their dean.
Retreats:
Each fall every class participates in a retreat to deepen their faith and strengthen their bonds.
On alternating years Father/Son - Mother/Son Retreats are held for Juniors & Seniors.
