Why Mount Michael?

The college prep aspect of Mount Michael isn’t just in the class and in the studies; it is also in the boarding program. The boarding program gives me a taste of what college is actually going to be like. You don’t get that from many other high schools. I’ve learned great study habits and time management skills. I know that will help me immensely when I get to college.

-Nick Cairney ’12, St. Vincent de Paul Grade School

I chose Mount Michael because I knew I’d get a great education and ultimately would be prepared for college.

-Chris Bierman ’14, St. James Grade School

When first arriving at Mount Michael as freshmen, the students are young boys full of potential and abilities but lacking in focus and maturity. As they progress through their high school years you see them mature not only physically, but also academically and socially as each becomes a well-rounded, well-prepared young man with a very bright future.

-Sharleen Ball, Teacher

The best thing about Mount Michael is that the students care a lot about their education. For example, over the years that I have been a coach, I find it not uncommon for students to be discussing novels, physics problems, world issues, etc. on the way from a competition. Parents also care a lot about their son’s education and are here to help student and Mount Michael become better.

Are Mount Michael grads different from the average college student? You had better believe it. I've been teaching college economics for 20 years and I get students from many different disciplines, socio-economic backgrounds, and from all over the world. What makes Mount Michael students special goes beyond their grades.

It's about their attitude toward learning. I'm sure I'll find an exception one day, but until then I can fully profess that Mount Michael grads come to class prepared and take ownership of their performance without making excuses. I was so impressed with them that both my sons now attend Mount Michael."

-Tim Bastian, Mount Michael parent and Professor at Creighton University

We chose Mount Michael for our two sons because we were looking for an academically-recognized, faith-based education that would prepare them for college and for life. We were also looking for a school where our boys could participate in a variety of extra-curricular and athletic activities for all four years of high school. Mount Michael met those needs and continues to exceed our expectations.
