Shadow Day

All junior high students are welcome to come see what a day in the life of a Mount Michael student is really like. Shadowing provides prospective students a firsthand look at Mount Michael and the ability to develop their own personal opinion of the school and all it has to offer. As a shadow, your son will have to opportunity to spend a day with his freshman host and go to classes, meet teachers, and observe the enthusiasm and high academic standards in action.

  • Please provide at least 24 hour notice before you’d like your son to shadow.
  • Let us know if there is a current student you’d like your son to shadow for the day.
  • We ask that your son gets dropped off at our main entrance – pathway to the left of the chapel – at 7:45AM wearing dress pants and a collared shirt (polo or button down).
  • Dress shoes or tennis shoes are both acceptable.
  • Your son will not need to bring anything with him as we will provide lunch
  • At the end of the day, your son can be picked up at the main entrance at 3:25PM.

Additionally, please feel free to share with us some of your son’s interests (academic, athletic, etc.) and we would be happy to set up individual meetings with that particular department head or coach.

To schedule a shadow day please contact Mr. Jack Pritchard ’07, Director of Admissions, at admissions@mountmichael.org or 402-238-1457.

Overnight Shadow

Do you want your son to get a feel for the boarding experience before his freshman year? If so, we invite prospective 7th and 8th graders to come for an overnight shadow. Your son will be able to witness the unique benefit of living and learning under one roof. We offer overnight shadows Monday evening through Thursday evening. Your son will get to spend the night hanging out with all of the freshmen and witness the 7:30PM-9:00PM study hall that parents and students alike find so beneficial. The next day, your son will have the opportunity to spend the school day with his freshman host while going to classes, meeting teachers, and observing the enthusiasm and high academic standards in action.

Please provide at least 48 hour notice when scheduling an overnight shadow. Let us know if there is a current student you’d like your son to shadow for the day. Additionally, please feel free to share with us some of your son’s interests (academic, athletic, etc.) and we would be happy to set up individual meetings with that particular department head or coach.

We ask that your son gets dropped off at our main entrance – pathway to the left of the chapel – at 5:30PM wearing casual attire (most students are in shorts or sweatpants). Your son will need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, overnight bag, dress pants and collared shirt for the following day, along with something to read. We will provide dinner the evening you drop your son off as well as breakfast and lunch the following day. At the end of the school day, your son can be picked up at the main entrance at 3:35PM.
